New Build
2018
This contemporary new build in Newton, just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, gave Terracotta Interiors the chance to shape the home's interiors from the ground up. Starting during construction lets finishes, fixtures, and furnishings be planned together, so every room feels connected from the front door to the back.
Set within an architecturally traditional, well-established neighborhood in Newton, Massachusetts, this project called for an unapologetically contemporary home that would still feel naturally at home in its surroundings. A floating steel-and-glass staircase establishes a sculptural first impression from the entry, carried throughout in flat-front cabinetry, leathered stone, custom millwork, and an oval kitchen island that softens the clean-lined design. Teal-lined shelving, botanical wall-covering, expressive art, and hand-finished surfaces bring moments of color , artistry, warmth, and elegance throughout. The result is contemporary in form yet deeply personal in expression, with a sense of character that feels confident and unmistakably individual.
Designed in collaboration with Melanie Foster Interiors, New York.
Our Design Approach
New construction can feel cold when it relies on clean lines alone. Our approach to contemporary homes is to balance crisp architecture with warmth: layered textures, thoughtful lighting and furnishings chosen for comfort as much as style. Coordinating selections with the build team keeps the design consistent across the house while giving each room its own purpose.
The Result
The finished home is modern without losing comfort, designed for everyday living as much as for entertaining. It reflects the balance we bring to every project: tailored, livable luxury.
